Our Business Process:
The first step to creating your beautiful LD&F landscape and pool design is to call us at 858-695-6573 and discuss
the scope of your landscape design project. If the requirements are basic, and you plan to do the work yourself, then
our One Hour Express Design Service may be a perfect fit. For the low cost of $150.00 a designer will stop by at your
house explain what, where and how the improvements should be made and leave you a sketch. The designer will also advise
you on where to buy the materials to get the best prices.
For large projects, you should be prepared for
the first meeting with a list of the features that you want included in your new pool and landscaping as well as the Home
Owner Association Rules that govern your property. The purpose of the first meeting is to establish the scope and
budget of the project as well as the timing for completion of the construction. If you have no idea what landscapes
and pools cost, your LD&F designer can give you feedback based on averages in your community. The design is
normally divided into "outdoor rooms" and spaces dedicated to specific functions. Your LD&F designer
will help you define scope by discussing specific elements such as: formal walkways from the street to front door,
sidewalks around the house for pedestrian traffic, vegetable and fruit tree areas for edibles, play areas for children, pet
enclosures, barbecue and dinning areas, courtyards and fountains, outdoor living rooms with fireplaces, water features
and firepits, styles and sizes of trees, garden and grass areas, pool/spa shape, size and features, pool houses and outdoor
pavillions, patio covers and trellises, concrete/stone and paver options, retaining and free standing walls, decorative iron
gates, fencing options, storage enclosures for pool equipment and trash cans, landscape lighting, landscape drainage,
landscape irrigation systems, and ways to connect existing landscape and pool elements to new ones.
The
next step is to take measurements and develop a conceptual design. You should provide the designer with a plot plan of
the property if one is available. For very large properties, a landscape surveyor may be involved at an additional cost.
Your LD&F designer will create a one page concept plan that includes all the features discussed and then create an estimate
of the total cost of the project. The second design meeting will be to review the concept plan and estimate and then
refine the same as required. The LD&F design can be value engineered and subdivided into phases to meet any
budget based on your priorities. After the concept design is completed and all plan checks are completed
with the City, Engineers and HOA, LD&F will complete a detailed set of landscape/pool design drawings, complete the
submittal process to the Home Owners Associations and obtain permits from the City and County. You will then be
ready to go out to bid and LDF will provide you with a preferred contractor list if you need one.
